![]() Lo Wang is an old Chinese and Japanese ninja who had one-liners just like Duke and liked young women. Even the few characters used from the original are nothing like their original incarnations to the point where they are just different characters pretending to be the original characters. The reboot trilogy is nothing like the original and looks like a new IP just with the title Shadow Warrior slapped on them. The only true Shadow Warrior game was the one from 1997 by 3D Realms. None of the Devolver "Shadow Warrior" games are actual Shadow Warrior games. If you liked the previous, beware, this game has nothing to do with the previous titles. If you just want a mindless shooter (buy Serious Sam instead cof cof), then it's fine, go ahead. This game has nothing to do with the 2013 one. Who wrote this story? The nephew of the boss? The writing is terrible, storytelling is terrible, and humour is terrible as well.įlying Wild Hog said that this game would be more like the 2013 one, but everything I saw, was that they removed the loot and went back to linear levels, and nothing more. "We saved the world, yeha!" and that's it. The ending is empty, a terrible and empty ending for a trilogy, which had an amazing start. I saw some journalists reviewing the game saying that "nobody plays Shadow Warrior for the story", I guess this is valid for Serious Sam (which was heavily criticised for its story on the last title by the same website), but for Shadow Warrior, I wonder, has anyone ever played the 2013 reboot? Because for saying that, the answer is probably not. There's no plot twist, no impact whatsoever, the story is simply dull. Remember when they built Lo Wang in 2013 reboot? Forget that, you start as silly Deadpool wannabe ninja, and ends with an silly Deadpool wannabe ninja. Nothing justifies the absence of the previous creatures, or what happened with the enemies from the previous games, or what the effects of the Shadow Realm being merged with the human world. The enemies are now different, it seems like they were dragged out from a circus, for. And they try to build a silly story above that, with a limited number of characters, rushed dialogs, with a generic team up plot, like a cheap Marvel movie. Story simply ignore a lot of characters and events that happened before this game, starting with a timeskip, the only thing from the previous games they used in this one, is the fact that Lo Wang opened a gate, now there's a dragon, and for reasons, Hoji is back. ![]() Jokes follow a juvenile humour, unfunny, dated, and toned down from the previous games, worse than Shadow Warrior 2, and very far from Shadow Warrior 2013 type of humour. Classic elements of the reboot aren't present, such as fortune cookies, Stan Bush songs, and even the epic Shadow Warrior theme was left behind. ![]() Also Lo Wang has a new voice over which doesn't seems to fit it. They're simply different, way more goofy, and that's it. Lo Wang, Zilla and Hoji (the only former characters of the franchise that have appeared in this game) have a different personality, with no justified reason. Here's the reasons I think why this game is bad in several points and why it's also anything but a "Shadow Warrior" game.
